Last weekend I have to say, I experienced a first… Eating dinner out in the middle a wheat field. My parents are here in Canada with my uncle still and we have had a lot of fun but this was definitely the most unique thing we have done. I brought my camera along and took a couple of snaps.
We were up in Camrose, 3 hours north of Calgary with Ash’s family for the weekend. On Sunday, we headed to her Auntie and Uncle’s farm with the rest of the family for dinner. The guys have been working out in the fields swathing and combining in rotating shifts over 24 hours in order to get everything done. It is a hell of a lot of work!
We all drove out at 6:30 in a convoy of trucks loaded with food, drinks, coolers and chairs and met the guys in the middle of the field. The ladies did a great job getting dinner together! We had chili which I don’t think could have been any more fitting for the occasion. The weather was beautiful and w were all surrounded by amazing company. I don’t think the Mitty’s and Broughton’s any more welcome.
After a great dinner out in the field, it was time to get back to work. We packed everything up and my dad and uncle took in turns to ride around in the combine to see what it is all about. Just like a couple of kids.
Thanks to the Broughton’s for having us over. It really was a great day!
